Summary

Mission

Access For All
Project AccelerUs provides world-class learning opportunities at no cost to all students regardless of their geographic location or socio-economic status. Students connect with global networks, subject matter experts, and their local community to help build creative confidence to Think Big and Be Bold beyond the classroom.

Authentic Learning
Students choose a big-picture challenge issue that resonates with their personal interests. Students then identify and develop solutions that enable a future they envision in the community they live in, which has the potential to directly impact their own life. Project AccelerUs has a growing collection of challenges to ensure each student can work on a topic they are passionate about.

Global Impact
Project AccelerUs integrates multiple innovation mindsets from the Silicon Valley models into the Strategic Foresight methodology: the Beginner’s Mind of the young person, subject matter experts, the Diversity of the Crowd, and the existing proven methodology. By integrating these four mindsets, Project AccelerUs provides a Vision-Led Innovation model that challenges students from across the globe to confidently tackle the world’s biggest problems head on.

Challenges

Impact your community. Change the world.
The Project AccelerUs challenge cycle allows students to take a deeper look into subjects they are interested in, and empowers them to pursue their passions. Below are the current Project AccelerUs Challenges with more coming soon!

Decreasing Disasters

Every year, disasters put millions of Americans in danger and cost billions of dollars property damage. Disasters are serious disruptions that impact everyday functioning to the point it exhausts the resources necessary to cope. How would you alleviate human suffering in the face of disasters, both before they occur and after they happen?

Intentional Prevention

Youth violence is a serious public health problem that can have long-term impact on young people’s health and wellbeing. Youth violence is the intentional use of physical force or power to threaten or harm others. All young people deserve to grow up safely and thrive in their homes, schools, and communities.

Climate in Crisis

Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather events around the world. This results in increased havoc on everyone affected, from individual families and communities to billion-dollar businesses. What future do you envision that provides relief for people and organizations being impacted by climate change and the erratic weather associated with it?

Food Insecurity

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. Does this sound like someone you know? What about within your community? What future can you envision that helps those in need?

Helping Health

“The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition”. – Constitution of the World Health Organization

World Without Waste

Consumption and production drive the global economy, but also wreak havoc on planetary health through the unsustainable use of natural resources. The global material footprint is increasing faster than population growth and economic output. Recycling is one pathway to a “World Without Waste.”

Excellence in Education

Learning and knowledge are tools that can help inspire and enable different futures for ourselves, humanity, and of our world. The pace of change in the world today and the challenges they bring to our society require re-imagining education and learning systems to enable all an equitable opportunity at the future and life they desire.

More to come.

Do you have an issue you would like to explore? One that requires BIG THINKING and BEING BOLD for success? Go to the “Get Involved” page and let us know. The future is ours collectively to make.
